The short version
Slap/top and AM Guru, LLC do not collect, sell, rent, or use your personal data for advertising or tracking.
Information the app does not collect
Slap/top does not require an account and does not collect names, email addresses, contact information, advertising identifiers, precise location, usage analytics, crash telemetry, document contents, or browsing history.
Motion data stays on your Mac
Accelerometer and gyroscope reports are processed locally to recognize taps. Slap/top does not upload, retain on a server, or share motion readings. Its narrowly scoped sensor helper contains no file or network access logic.
If you teach Slap/top a custom tap or knock pattern, its learned motion signature, timing, name, and assigned keyboard shortcut or text action are saved only in local app preferences on your Mac. They are not uploaded or shared.
Update checks and GitHub
Slap/top can contact GitHub to check the project’s public release feed and download an update. The website also asks GitHub for the current public download link. These requests do not contain motion data or an AM Guru user identifier, but GitHub may receive standard network information such as an IP address, user agent, and request time under GitHub’s Privacy Statement.
Automatic update checks can be changed to weekly or manual-only in Slap/top Settings.
This website
The Slap/top website uses no advertising, analytics SDK, tracking pixel, account system, or marketing cookie. It has no contact form and intentionally stores no visitor profile. Hosting infrastructure may create ordinary short-lived security or error logs containing request metadata; those logs are not used to track or market to visitors.
Apple services
If you obtain Slap/top through Apple, Apple may process App Store transactions, downloads, diagnostics, or aggregated storefront analytics according to Apple’s Privacy Policy. AM Guru does not use Slap/top to add independent tracking to those services.
Open source and contact
You can inspect the complete source under the MIT License. Questions or privacy concerns can be opened publicly in the project’s GitHub issue tracker.
Changes
If Slap/top’s data practices change, this page will be updated before the change is released, and the “Last updated” date will be revised.
